So, you actually want to know more about me? Well, I guess I'd
have to say that I'm a natural born geek. I've always been interested
in electronics and computers, even before home computing even existed!
As a child, my house was plagued with many mysterious disappearances.
Clock radios and other electronic devices would vanish, never to be seen
in a single piece again. "I swear it wasn't me... honest!" I was a young
teenager in 1975, when Altair introduced the first hobbyist (home)
computer. I was quickly hooked on the new digital world. Coincidentally,
clock radios stopped vanishing about the same time.
My high school and college years focused on... you guessed it,
computers! But after that, I wandered any from computers. Looking back,
even I don't know why. Suffice it to say that one day I returned to
where I knew I belonged.
I began my return to computers by teaching. Well, ok, tutoring (there
is a difference) computers to people. This was in the heyday of DOS, and
I was determined to help ordinary people learn the secretive ways of
computing. I even came up with a catchy business name, The Computer
Tutor. Too bad I didn't know about trademarking. As I grew, I expanded
my business to include repair, then networking and business related services.
With my repair and business consulting expanding, I felt I needed a
new name, one that didn't limit my focus. Hey Dave! Consulting was quite
literally a middle of the night flash of inspiration. With the coming of
the Internet Age, Hey Dave! Consulting made the evolution into Hey Dave!
Services to encompass my internet services. Which brings us to today.
What's the future of Hey Dave? Well, i plan on beating Bill Gate to
global domination, yet still being a nice guy. I haven't yet thought up
a good name for my planet, so if you have an idea, let me know. If I
like it, I'll give you a continent as a reward.
Well, thanks for listening to my life story. Believe it or not, this
is more than I've talked about myself in a long time.
Have a great day!
Dave
